In the Peotta's Atelier, stone carving is a craft-work totally handmade on the stone block. The shapes come slowly alive with the sapient work of the sculptor's hand that remove matter, balancing full and empty, lights and shadows.
From the very beginning great importance is given in choosing the proper block to work with. Its colour, shape and consistence are fundamental elements for the choice, but even greater importance is given to the feeling the stone conveys to the artist: you have to be able to foresee the becoming of the sculpture by simply watching at the raw stone and figure out every single action you will then undertake on it.
By using the same simple and traditional tools - hammer and chisel - of the past centuries, our sculptors bring the motion of life into the stone. With a sapient, slow and careful work, stone takes shape, and with it life, telling its own story to bystanders.
